HYPERTENSION TREATMENT & COMPLICATIONS - 14th March 2024
The Programme started with the ‘TAMIL THAIVALTHU’, followed by the Welcome address given by Dr. S.THAMILARASI, Prof & Head, Dept .Of Pharmacology, Who emphasized on the importance of prevalence of hypertension and the necessity to be updated about its treatment & Complications.
This was followed by Session I of CME. During this session, Dr. G. Gnanasenthil MD, Associate Prof. of Physiology, KAPV Govt. Medical College, Trichy gave the speech on topic - “PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF HYPERTENSION”. He discussed about the Renal mechanisms with experimental models of rats and its important role in the pathogenesis of hypertension. He added upon other contributing factors for Hypertension like activation of sympathetic system through various mechanisms, involment of the mineral corticoid hormones in the aggravation of blood pressure and involment of reactive oxygen species(ROS) in hypertension along with a newer concept of role of pre-probiotics in control of blood pressure. The speaker was felicitated and honoured by Dr. S. Thamilarasi, Prof., & Head of Pharmacology, SMCH.
?? Session of the CME was on the topic- “UPDATION OF HYPERTENSION TREATMENT AND COMPLICATIONS” by Dr. L. Muthumani, MD, Associate Prof., of General Medicine, KAPV Govt. Medical College, Trichy. He discussed about the recent guidelines that are being followed in the management of hypertension along with the hypertensive emergencies, resistant hypertension and secondary hypertension. He also added upon the treatment protocol and how to minimize the errors occurring during B.P measurement. The session ended after the speaker answering of the questions that were raised by the audience. The speaker was felicitated by Dr. D. Malliga, Prof. of Pharmacology, SMCH.
After the Scientific session by the speakers& following a Tea Break, ?? year MBBS Students of SMCH gathered for the quiz competition on topic-CVS Pharmacology 3 teams consisting of 2 Students in each team participated in the quiz competition conducted by Dr. D. Malliga, Prof. of Pharmacology, SMCH assisted by other faculty members following which the winners were distributed with Prizes.
CME Programme ended with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr .T. Amrutharajasaranya, Asst. Prof. of Pharmacology, SMCH followed by the National Anthem.
