Awareness Rally on World No Tobacco Day-03.06.2026
The School of Pharmacy, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, organized an Awareness Rally on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on 03 June 2026 to educate the public about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and to promote a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle. Welcome address by Dr. S. Akilandeswari, Dean, School of Pharmacy, facilitator was Dr. S. Rekha, Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Nithiya, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and other departmental faculty members of the School of Pharmacy.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and B. Pharm students, who carried placards and displayed banners highlighting the ill effects of tobacco use. The participants raised awareness through slogans and public interaction, emphasizing the importance of preventing tobacco addiction and encouraging people to adopt healthy lifestyle choices.
As part of the programme, the students presented a mime performance depicting the devastating physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of tobacco addiction. The powerful, dialogue-free performance effectively conveyed the message of tobacco prevention and encouraged the audience to lead a smoke-free and healthy life.
The rally aimed to spread awareness about tobacco-related diseases, the dangers of passive smoking, and the significance of early prevention, especially among young people. The event also reinforced the message that collective efforts are essential to build a healthier and tobacco-free society.
The programme successfully created awareness among the public and inspired the participants to become ambassadors for promoting good health and social responsibility. The School of Pharmacy continues to organize such community outreach activities as part of its commitment to public health education and community service.
