Gender Sensitization and Awareness program in Srinivasan Medical College and Hospital
A Gender sensitization and awareness programme regarding gender based issues and support mechanisms was successfully conducted on 15.09.2025 by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) for the students of MBBS and faculty members. The programme aimed to create awareness about the prevention of sexual harassment and the importance of fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. The role and significance of the ICC within educational institutions, workplaces, and society were also highlighted. The sessions began with a welcome note by the Presiding Officer Dr. B. Suganthi, followed by our Dean Dr.P. Rosy Vennila, who emphasized the relevance of the committee in empowering students, especially women, to voice their concerns without fear. The guest speaker, Mrs Beatrice Vanaja, (Secretary of New life- NGO, Trichy) addressed the audience on the topic of "Gender-Based Issues and Support Mechanisms,” covering various aspects of gender sensitisation. The speaker shed light on various gender-based issues prevalent in society and workplaces.
