IGNITE – LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION CLUB INAUGURATION: A STEP TOWARDS HEALTHIER LIVING ON 24-07-2026
The Department of Physician Assistant, School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), successfully inaugurated the IGNITE – Lifestyle Modification Club on 24 July 2026 at Lecture Hall 601. The event marked the beginning of a transformative initiative dedicated to promoting preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle practices, and holistic well-being among students. Designed as a long-term wellness platform, the club aims to empower future healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to adopt and advocate healthier lifestyles.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing the enlightenment of knowledge and the commitment to healthier living. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Ms. Sivaranjani M., Assistant Professor, while Dr. K. Rekha, Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences, felicitated the esteemed chief guest. The IGNITE Club was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sakthivel Sivasubramanian, MD, DM (Endocrinologist), whose inspiring keynote lecture highlighted the significance of lifestyle modification in preventing non-communicable diseases and enhancing overall quality of life. His evidence-based insights, practical recommendations, and motivational perspectives resonated deeply with the participants, encouraging them to embrace sustainable health practices.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, reflecting the institution's collective commitment to fostering a culture of wellness. Interactive club activities further enriched the event, creating an engaging and collaborative learning environment. Notably, 20 students voluntarily enrolled as the inaugural members of the IGNITE Club, demonstrating their eagerness to become ambassadors of healthy living. Through its planned monthly activities, awareness campaigns, and community outreach initiatives, the club aspires to cultivate lifelong healthy habits, strengthen mentor–mentee relationships, and contribute meaningfully to society. This commendable initiative reaffirms the School of Allied Health Sciences' unwavering commitment to academic excellence, preventive healthcare, and the holistic development of future healthcare professionals.
